I finally concede. Knitting can be cool.
OK I admit it, I have a thing against knitters. It’s not personal. But really knitting is just too bloody dominant hegemonic craft attention grabbing for me. There’s the whole ‘yeah we’re reclaiming crafts and we’re knitting!’ and there’s stitching and bitching and there’s knit-ins and it’s all so bloody cool.
And I can’t bloody do it.
One of the reasons I started cross stitching was out of spite at knitters. It was like “grr I’ll show you mainstream knitters, see how hard core subversive I am, I’m CROSS STITCHING. OOOoooOOOOooo!”
Yeah don’t get mad, get Cross! (stitching)
But I can no longer deny the coolness of knitting craftivists after seeing these seriously sexy knits. Lisa, you are a GODDESS. Mwah, mwah, mwah!
