		<description>my guess is that it's like you say - a little helper. i've been tought that to get the best result, you should start counting the stitches from the middle of your pattern, so that the piece gets centered (is that a word?). then it's a good idea to mark the center (both vertical &#38; horizontal) with a thread in a different colour, so that you don't have to go back &#38; figure it out all over again when you're done with one part. does that make sense?</description>
