Political Pendants

Check out these adorable pendants from Etsy seller Quid

Aren’t they gorgeous! I was almost tempted to not show you all so I could get them for myself. But how could I deprive you all!

I love those little frames. I’m going to try and track down some for me. If anyone knows where to get any online please let me know.

And the best bit is that they’re priced really well.  And by really well, I don’t mean ridiculously cheap.  I am getting really sick of seeing cross stitch stuff on Etsy for such stupidly low prices.  There’s stuff on there that is at least 4 or 5 hours work, and that’s if you’re going super quick and not having any rest breaks, being sold for US$6 or $7.

Now if people want to undervalue their own work that’s fine, but because it’s a marketplace, their also undervaluing my own work.  And that really pisses me off.

Those of us in the craft selling world already have a hard enough time trying to educate consumers that they should pay more for handmade goodness than mass-produced crap.  But how do we educate other crafters to value their own time well?

And it seems to be a bigger problem in the realm of needlecraft.  I see handmade clothes and toys for sale on Etsy that seem to be reasonably priced for what they are but when I look at the embroidered stuff it always seems to be a fire sale.  I don’t get it.
