		<description>The ties I talked about in the podcast were just backstitched.  This is them here http://radicalcrossstitch.com/2008/04/01/tie-crazy/ So I drew on the ties with tailors chalk and used thread to follow the line.  If I was cross stitching though, yes, I would use a bit of waste canvas and then pull out the threads at the end.  Like the riots not diets patch on this post http://radicalcrossstitch.com/2007/10/05/craftster-feminist-swap-lots-of-pics/
I usually do a loose stitch at each corner to hold the canvas in place, or use an embroidery hoop, depends on the size of the project.  Next time I make something like this, I'll post up a photo tutorial.
