Saving the world, one stitch at a time

Ok kids, it’s time to start getting excited!

The infinitely quotable (as I recently heard her described) Betsy Greer from craftivism.com, who is also a contributor to both issues of hoopla has written a book!

How cool is that cover!

It’s not out yet, but will be in November and you can preorder it on Amazon. I will definitely let you all know when it comes out. And I will certainly be getting a copy myself! And I promise we will interview Betsy all about it.

I’m always keen to find out about any more books with a focus on craft and politics, or just social history in general. If you know of any, please comment below. Cheers!

Wow – that looks like a freaking awesome book.

Thanks for pointing it out! Might give me some direction in what seems like otherwise pointless knit tagging… I know there is some statement I’m trying to make – just gotta figure out what it is ;)

Knit tagging is never pointless. At the very least it’s making the ugly concrete jungles we live in look prettier. But making communities softer and cuddlier and more tactile, makes them safer and more friendly too.

Have you seen the fence stuff on here?

Also check out the crew (sorry can’t remember any names) that knitted up the park in NY (I’m pretty sure) as a protest about it being developed. They had a pretty cool message.

And check out the Revolutionary Knitting Circle site, there’s some good stuff on there http://knitting.activist.ca/
