Here in Melbourne we've had a really strong tradition of radical craft over the last 20 years, and I think it's because of the big grass roots base of environmental groups here. Quilts,banners and fence weaving are really effective ways for diverse groups to work together - I'm thinking in particluar of actions such as Aidex, Stop Jabiluka and the Victorian Aids quilt, things that really got people thinking and doing and inspired to change.
