Fence love

The awesome Welly Outdoor Knit crew have come out with a seriously nice piece of loveliness – and just round the corner from where I used to live!

This piece was constructed as an antidote to the ugliness left all over the city after the construction of the Bypass aka that stupid bloody road.  Not content with ripping giant swathes through Wellington’s heritage and community they apparently now ‘can’t afford’ to clean up the fringes of the project, leaving wasted land behind.

Totally support any efforts by people to reclaim and beautify these spaces!

Oh, how heart warming is that?
I’d love to see a growing range of chain links art like that going on around Melbourne. Thinking about it, you could weave almost anything into fences like that…
