As you’ve probably noticed by now I’m a sucker for big projects. So I just had to make another one. One more Super Mario Bros 3 map, world 2 this time. Size: 59 x 18 cm on 21 count Aida. It took just under nine months to finish (although I did mix it up with other projects during that time).

And a close-up to show off the stitches.

My dear Ninja you are delightfully nuts!! One day we’ll get to sit and stitch together in the same room and I can check out your technique since you seem to be able to stitch so much more than me. Well maybe I could finish more and start less projects lol!
Seriously this is an amazing piece. Makes me wanna nerd out all day
Well done!

“Delightfully nuts” you say? I like the sound of that.
The main technique is lots of patience and spare time to stitch, I’m afraid.
The only thing I can think of is this: http://crossstitch.about.com/od/learnhowtocrossstitch/a/stabsew.htm I usually use the sewing method, as long as it doesn’t affect the look of the stitches. I was pretty frustrated when I was working on the background in this stitching. I had to use a hoop and the stabbing method to get the stitches to look good and it was so much slower!
your map is one of the most inspiring things iv seen. i really respect the skill and the idea. im currently studying visual arts. i hate it.. this is the kind of work i want to do. that should be incouraged. luv it.

Wow, excellent job! I must agree and say that you are delightfully nuts ^_~ I don’t think I’d have the patience to do something like that, much less on 21-count cloth! So…want to take on the overworld map in Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past? ^_~

That would be fun! And probably take the rest of my life.
Actually, I have been thinking about making the overworld to Link’s awakening: http://www.bliterations.com/wp-content/images/LegendOfZelda-Link%27sAwakening-Koholint.png but it would be HUGE, even on 28-count evenweave, so it’ll have to wait until I can afford the fabric.
This is truly awesome. You have serious patience and talent!
